Ricardo Lopes was born in Gandu, Brazil. He grew up playing soccer as a young boy in Brazil and then went on to play professionally.  His first professional club was playing futsal at SportsClub Vitoria da Bahia for four years. He then moved on to professional outdoor soccer in Jamaica where he played for one year at Port Morant Soccer Club and one year at S.C.Hazard.  He led the way for the team to earn the Champion’s Federation Cup and was named MVP in 1999 and 2000. In 2001 he played futsal professionally in the Netherlands. He played for LZV KUYPRES in the Dutch Futsal Premier division. He then moved back to his native Brazil where he played futsal once again.  He then received a four year futsal scholarship at Faculdade Tecnologia e ciencias (FTC) University where he led the team to win 4 state championships and obtained a degree in Physical Education.

  

Ricardo moved to Michigan in 2011 and has been passionately coaching soccer at various soccer clubs in Oakland county. During this time, he also played five years professionally for the WAZA Flo Pro Indoor team winning the Eastern Division in 2011 and 2012 as well as U.S Open Cup Champions in 2013.   He currently is a Head Coach at Troy Soccer Club as well as an assistant head coach for Detroit Country Day School Varsity Soccer where he aided in leading the team to win the state championship in 2018. Ricardo is committed to developing each individual player and hopes to pass on his passion and love for the game.
